After 14 years of conflict and a worsening humanitarian crisis, Syria faces new and urgent challenges following the recent regime fall in December 2024. The situation has significantly deteriorated, with ongoing hostilities, rising civilian casualties, and increasing displacement in Northwest Syria. Looting and destruction of vital infrastructure have left communities in dire need of humanitarian assistance. Vulnerable groups, particularly women and girls, are disproportionately affected, facing heightened risks of gender-based violence (GBV) and significant barriers to accessing essential services. This report comes amid growing concerns over the reduction of humanitarian aid, which has severely impacted food security, shelter, education, and protection services.
In response, Equity and Empowerment (EE) conducted a rapid needs assessment across Idleb, Hama, Aleppo, Homs, Latakia, and Tartous, reaching 769 individuals. The assessment identifies urgent humanitarian priorities, focusing on critical sectors and highlighting key gaps in basic services and infrastructure. EE remains committed to addressing these challenges through data-driven, gender-sensitive interventions while advocating for increased support and coordinated efforts to meet the needs of affected communities. This report serves as a foundation for mobilizing resources and guiding effective humanitarian responses.
