In the digital age we live in, internet access has become essential for everyone, providing valuable content across all areas of life—written, visual, and audio. Access to social media platforms has also become increasingly easy. Consequently, ensuring basic digital security measures has become crucial to protecting individuals from online risks and maximizing the benefits of internet use.
As part of the “Digital Security for Everyday Life” project Equity and Empowerment conducted a Cyber Hygiene Training on July 17 and 18, 2024, in Gaziantep, Turkey. The training covered key topics in digital hygiene and was attended by representatives of Syrian civil society organizations and university students.
The training addressed several critical areas, including device safety procedures and the impact of digital violence on women.
Navigating today’s digital space requires accessing data from devices, applications, and services, which necessitates adhering to digital security practices to keep the internet a safe environment for users. This training emphasized the importance of educating users on the essential rules of digital hygiene, understanding the most common digital threats, and learning how to avoid them effectively. Equity and Empowerment plays a key role in providing necessary training that enables participants to recognize these risks, learn how to prevent them, and understand the best practices for ensuring digital security while working, browsing, or using social media.
Providing a diverse range of training and educational materials is one of the key features of Equity and Empowerment ’s digital security training, offering trainees access to the right information tailored to their internet use needs.
One of the most important aspects of the training was protecting women from online violence, highlighting the significant threat this poses to women in digital spaces.
