On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Agenda in the Asia-Pacific region, we celebrate the achievements of women in building peace and leading change in their communities.
Through women’s involvement in conflict prevention, crisis resolution, and post-conflict recovery, women have proven to be essential in achieving sustainable peace. Despite ongoing challenges, including humanitarian crises and new security threats, efforts from UN Women and civil society organizations continue to support the realization of the agenda’s goals in promoting women’s equal participation in all peace and security processes.
4. Relief and Recovery: Empowering women to rebuild their communities after conflict.
Over the years, National Action Plans have been adopted in 13 countries across Asia and the Pacific, reflecting the commitment of governments and peoples to empower women to lead peace processes.
